Student.com - Reversing a Google Algorithm Decline Through SEO and Digital PR
How Tribera reversed a Google algorithm-driven traffic decline for Student.com, delivering a 9% uplift in global top-three search visibility within three months.
BACKGROUND
Student.com had little SEO or digital PR investment before June 2024. Google's Helpful Content Update in September 2023 had triggered a serious organic visibility decline that needed to be stopped before any growth could follow.
CLIENT CHALLENGE
Student.com was hit hard by the update because of duplicate content across its market websites, each missing localised copy and accurate translations, with little else to fall back on.
TRIBERA'S SOLUTION
We focused first on improving the quality of key city and university pages that had seen the steepest decline, treating SEO as a content and PR challenge rather than a purely technical fix. We backed this with technical SEO built into a new site launch in October 2024, then proposed a three-phase 2025 growth plan, localisation, content development and link building, after spotting that 87% of keyword rankings sat in English-speaking markets, a clear opportunity to expand.
THE RESULTS
Within three months, the strategy delivered a 9% increase in Google top-three visibility globally, with individual gains of 31% in Spain, 26% in the UK, 25% in Australia, 18% in France and 13% in the US. UK property page rankings rose 12%, and global page-one keyword rankings grew 5%.
